shape Concept

General idea of question is one statement is followed by two courses of action. As per the given instruction, candidate has to select which course of action is suitable. There are two varieties of questions. They are: 1. Problem - solution relation: is given and need to suggest about course of action i.e. course of action is nothing but directly an immediate solution.
  • course of action/solution must be practically viable - it must be easily implemented.
  • It must be a solution or it must solve the problem or it should minimize the problem.
  • It must be established fact.
  • It must be logically correct.
  • Solution must not be too remote for the problem/ correlated with given situation.
2. Fact - situation and improvement: Here, no need to find solution infact need to find solution for improving that.
  • Solution must be a practical suggestion for improving the situation.
  • It must provide some scope of improvement.
Format of the problem: Directions:- In the questions a fact statement is given followed by two recommended courses of action numbered I and II. On the basis of information given in the statement, need to assume everything in the statement to be true. Then choose which of the given actions follows. Options: (a) If only course of action I follows. (b) If only course of action II follows. (c) If both the course of action follow. (d) If neither follows. (e) If the data given is inadequate i.e., if in the light of the given information. It cannot be asserted with certainty whether a course of action follows or not.

shape Model Problems

Model 1: Statement: Mr. A, an active member from the union, frequently insults his bosses in the workplace with his impolite behaviour. Courses of action: I: The person should be exchanged to some other division. II: Directions:- In the questions a fact statement is given followed by two recommended courses of action numbered I and II. On the basis of information given in the statement, need to assume everything in the statement to be true. Then choose which of the given actions follows. Options: (a) If only course of action I follows. (b) If only course of action II follows. (c) If both the course of action follow. (d) If neither follows. (e) If the data given is inadequate. Solution:
Given statement is: Mr. A, an active member from the union, frequently insults his bosses in the workplace with his impolite behaviour. In the statement,it is clear that Mr. A insults his bosses in one department he may insult them in another office as well. Exchanging him won't help. So I does not follow. Since Mr. A is a active member from the union, it would be advisable that the union be requested that pressurize him. Hence II follows. Therefore, if only course of action II follows.
Model 2: Statement: Exporters in the capital are claiming that business banks are violating a RBI order to work a post shipment export credit designated in outside Currency at universal interest rate from January this year. Courses of action: I: The officers worried in the business banks are to be suspended. II: The RBI Should be requested that stop giving such directives to business banks. Directions:- In the questions a fact statement is given followed by two recommended courses of action numbered I and II. Solution:
Given statement: Exporters in the capital are claiming that business banks are violating a RBI order to work a post shipment export credit designated in outside Currency at universal interest rate from January this year. So, here the statement specifies that the business banks abuse an order issued by the RBI. The cure is just to make the banks implement the demonstration . Hence none of the courses follows. Therefore, option(d) is the correct choice i.e. if neither follows.
Model 3: Statement: A late study demonstrates that kids underneath five die in the urban areas of the creating nations chiefly of diarrhoea and parasitic intestinal worms. Courses of action: I: Governments of the creating nations should take satisfactory measures to enhance the hygienic conditions in the urban areas. II: Kids beneath five years in the urban areas of the creating nations should be brought under constant medication. Directions:- In the questions a fact statement is given followed by two recommended courses of action numbered I and II. Solution:
Given that: A late study demonstrates that kids underneath five die in the urban areas of the creating nations chiefly of diarrhoea and parasitic intestinal worms. From the statement, to enhance the hygienic conditions is dependably an appreciated step and in view of the statement it turns out to be considerably more important. Hence, I unquestionably follows. Yet, II does not. One should not cure any kid unless he has really gotten the infection. Prevention is all right but curing should begin only after the infection has been contracted. Therefore, if only course of action I follows.
Model 4: Statement: After the success of movies, for example, 'HUm Apke Hain Kaun' and Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge' great music and clean excitement are back once more. Courses of action: I: Movies having good music and clean entertainment should be promoted. II: The two movies mentioned above should be awarded for their clean entertainment. III: The government should ban movies that are not on the models of these two films. Directions:- In the questions a fact statement is given followed by three recommended courses of action numbered I, II and III. On the basis of information given in the statement, need to assume everything in the statement to be true. Then choose which of the given actions follows. Options: (a) I and II follow. (b) II and III follow. (c) I and III follow. (d) Only I follows. (e) Only III follows. Solution:
Given statement is: After the success of movies, for example, 'Hum Apke Hain Kaun' and Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge' great music and clean excitement are back once more. From the statement, it is clear that, I and II are appropriate courses of action. Great things must be advanced and remunerated. III is not appropriate. One can't boycott a motion picture simply because it is not like a specific motion picture. Therefore, I and III follow.
Model 5: Statement: The police has of troubled to ensure the elderly nationals of the general public. Just a week ago three old persons were killed at three better places. Courses of action: I: The police should be asked to take special care of women and children. II: The Government should bring a legislation aganist the killing of elderly people. III: Criminals who are accused of killing elderly people should be prosecuted by the state. Directions:- In the questions a fact statement is given followed by three recommended courses of action numbered I, II and III. On the basis of information given in the statement, need to assume everything in the statement to be true. Then choose which of the given actions follows. Options: (a) I & II follow. (b) II & III follow. (c) I & III follow. (d) Only I follows. (e) Only III follows. Solution:
Given that: The police has of troubled to ensure the elderly nationals of the general public. Just a week ago three old persons were killed at three better places. Now, it is clear that, I doesn't follow because the issue specifies elderly individuals and not ladies and kids. II and III are appropriate course of action. However they don't follow since such provisions are already there. Killing elderly individuals is a punishable offence under sec. 300 and 302 of IPC. While mutterers as a rule are prosecuted by the state. II and III are not new proposals. They are already in practice. Therefore, Only III follows.
