BITSAT General instructions are provided to familiarize the candidates with the different policies and regulations of the Examination, Examination center and in general about the Do's and Dont's while apllying for test and at the test center. This chapter covers the instructions pertaining to but not limited to: what kind of stationery items to be carried inside the examination hall, particulars to be noted, during examination, end of examination, proof of identity to be submitted, action against guilty of misconduct found.
BITSAT General Instructions - Prohibited Items to the Exam Center:

  • Any stationery item like textual material (printed or written), bits of papers, Geometry/Pencil Box, Plastic Pouch, Calculator, Scale, Writing Pad, Pen Drives, Log Table, Electronic Pen/Scanner.

  • Any communication device like Mobile Phone, Bluetooth, Earphones, Microphone, Pager, Health Band etc.

  • Any other item which could be used for unfair means for hiding communication devices like camera, blue tooth devices etc.
BITSAT General Instructions - Particulars to be Noted

  • Please note carefully your Roll Number, date, time and venue for the examination.

  • Please do not bring any valuable belongings except the essential materials required for the examinations.

  • Students should report at the centre on time.

  • Do not leave your seat unless you are allowed.

BITSAT General Instructions - Punctuality in Attendance

  • Candidates should be present at the examination hall at least 30 minutes prior to reporting time.

  • Candidates arriving late will not be permitted to enter the Examination Hall.

BITSAT General Instructions - Compliance with Instructions

  • You should scrupulously follow the instructions given by test administrators and the invigilators at all the stages of the examination for which you have been called.

  • If you violate the instructions you will be disqualified and may also be asked to leave the examination hall.

BITSAT General Instructions - Use of Books, Notes, Calculators & Cell Phones

  • No calculator is allowed inside the examination hall.

  • No Cell phones will be allowed inside the examination hall.

  • No books, slide rulers, note books or written notes will be allowed inside the examination hall.

BITSAT General instructions - Guidelines for Photograph & Signature
Before applying online, a candidate will be required to have a scanned (digital) image of his/her photograph and signature as per the specifications mentioned below.
  • Photograph must be a recent passport style color picture.

  • Make sure that the picture is in color, taken against a light-colored, preferably white, background.

  • Look straight at the camera with a relaxed face.

  • If you have to use flash, ensure there's no "red-eye".

  • Size of file should be between 4kb–50 kb.

  • Ensure that the size of the scanned image is not more than 50kb. If the size of the file is more than 50 kb, then adjust the settings of the scanner such as the DPI resolution, no. of colors etc., during the process of scanning.

  • The signature must be signed only by the applicant and not by any other person.

  • Size of file should be between 1kb – 30kb.

  • Ensure that the size of the scanned image is not more than 30kb.
  • Set the scanner resolution to a minimum of 200 dpi (dots per inch).

  • Set Color to True Color.

  • File Size as specified above.

  • Crop the image in the scanner to the edge of the photograph/signature, then use the upload editor.

  • to crop the image to the final size (as specified above).

  • The image file should be JPG or JPEG format.

  • Candidates using MS Windows/MSOffice can easily obtain photo and signature in .jpeg format not exceeding 50kb & 20kb respectively by using MS Paint or MSOffice Picture Manager. Scanned photograph and signature in any format can be saved in .jpg format by using 'Save As' option in the File menu and size can be reduced below 50 kb (photograph) & 30 kb(signature) by using crop and then resize option (Please see point (i) & (ii) above for the pixel size) in the 'Image' menu. Similar options are available in other photo editor also.

  • If the file size and format are not as prescribed, an error message will be displayed.

  • While filling in the Online Application Form the candidate will be provided with a link to upload his/her photograph and signature.
  • There will be two separate links for uploading Photograph and Signature.

  • Click on the respective link Upload Photograph / Signature.

  • Browse and Select the location where the Scanned Photograph / Signature file has been saved.

  • Select the file by clicking on it.

  • Click the 'Open/Upload' button. The respective files will be uploaded.
  • Make sure to enter all the details correctly. Do not misspell any important information especially the Names, Degrees and every other detail. Any discrepancies/mismatches will result in getting debarred from the selection process.

  • Online Application will not be registered unless the candidate uploads a photograph and signature as specified.

  • In case the face in the photograph or signature is unclear, the candidate's application may be rejected.

  • After uploading the photograph/ signature in the online application form candidates should check that the images are clear and have been uploaded correctly.

  • In case the photograph or signature is not prominently visible, the candidate may edit his/ her application and re-upload his/ her photograph or signature, prior to submitting the form.

  • After registering online, candidates are advised to take a printout of their system generated online application forms.
