Countries and Parliaments

shape Introduction

Legislature is a deliberative assembly, a gathering of members who use parliamentary procedure to make laws, decisions, pass bills, etc. or bring into effect by legislation. A "Legislature" is a generic name for the National Parliaments that are general assembly of representatives who have the power to legislate. Parliamentary System, is the system in which the head of state is usually a person distinct from the head of government. On the other hand, a Presidential System, is where the head of state often is also the head of government and, most importantly, the executive does not derive its democratic legitimacy from the legislature. The article Countries and Parliaments lists the names of countries and parliaments respectively. This article Countries and Parliaments is crucial in the General Awareness preparation of many competitive exams including Banking, UPSC, SSC, and other recruitment exams in India.

shape Parliaments

Laws enacted by legislatures are known as primary legislation. Legislatures observe and steer governing actions and usually have exclusive authority to amend the budget or budgets involved in the process. The members of a legislature are called legislators. In democratic nations such as India, legislators are most commonly popularly elected by people of a country, although indirect election and appointment by the executives are also used, in particular for legislatures featuring an upper chamber. [ Example: In India there is Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha]
