1. Important Days
  • National Science Day 2019 is "Science for people and people for science." The day marks important discovery made by scientist CV Raman - the Raman Effect.

  • US President Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un was supposed to build on their historic first summit in Singapore but they failed to bridge their differences and did not sign a joint statement as initially scheduled.

  • The Samjhauta Express Train service between Pakistan and India has been suspended until further notice, Dawn NewsTV reported citing railway authorities.

  • Tensions between India and Pakistan rose following the February [latex]14^{th}[/latex] terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district in which 40 CRPF soldiers were killed. Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terror group claimed responsibility for the attack.

  • Pakistan closed its airspace for commercial flights and suspended flight operations across major airports, including in Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi, for an indefinite period in the wake of the escalating tensions with India.
