Introduction
- The Grammy Awards (originally known as the Gramophone awards) are among the biggest award shows in the U.S. and it is exclusively given in honour of great achievements in the field of music.
- The process of nominating different music albums and artists is a very long and tedious process and involves a large number of experts. Online entries are made and then are reviewed by an expert panel of musicians and producers before nominations are made.
- The award ceremony is conducted annually and is hosted by the recording academy which is a prestigious organisation in the U.S. which consists of top musicians and technicians associated with music.
- The final decision is made by the members of National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences.
- The headquarters of the recording academy is located in Santa Monica. The Grammy’s is considered as the Oscar’s of the music industry.
- The first annual Grammys was held on 1959 and this year, the 61st award ceremony was held in Los Angeles at Staples centre.
