Intelligence Bureau (IB), Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India has released job notification for direct recruitment of 1430 Assistant Central Intelligence Officer (ACIO) Grade II/ Executives. The selection procedure has different stages with 2 stages of written examination. Knowledge of IB ACIO Exam Syllabus is crucial for the selection process and helps the students in devising effective exam preparation strategies. IB ACIO Exam Syllabus describes in detail about the various topics included in different sections of the written examination.
The IB ACIO Grade II Executive Exam Syllabus will help the students to identify their strengths and weaknesses in different topics. This analysis will help the aspirants to devise effective preparation and time management strategies to crack the selection process. IB ACIO selection process is primarily divided into different phases: Tier 1, Tier 2, & Interview followed by Character & Antecedent Verification and Medical Examination as shown below.

  • Tier-I: Tier I, is a written exam (objective type) with 4 sections, total of 100 questions, maximum marks of 100 and a time duration of 1 hour. Tier I exam is all set to be conducted on 15th October, 2017
  • Tier-II: Tier II is a descriptive test with essay writing ( 1 topic – 30 marks), English comprehension and precis writing (20 marks), a total of 50 marks and a duration of 1 hour. Tier II exam is all set to be conducted on January 1, 2018
  • Interview: On the basis of the combined performance in Tier-I and Tier-II, the candidates would be short listed for the interview which is for 100 marks.
  • Verification & Medical Examination: Based on the combined performance in Tier-I, Tier-II and Interview, the candidates would be short listed for final selection, subject to successful completion of their Character and Antecedent verification followed by Medical examination.

Tier - I is a written exam (objective type) with 4 section and a time duration of 1 hour as shown in table below. There is a negative marking of ¼ marks for each wrong answer and no marks would be awarded for unattended questions. There will be a minimum cut off marks of 33%, and those who will clear the Tier I exam will be called for TIER II exam.

Tier - II is a descriptive test with essay writing ( 1 topic – 30 marks), english comprehension and précis writing (20 marks), a total of 50 marks and a duration of 1 hour. Tier II primarily tests the candidate's English writing skills and analytical capability. The minimum Cut-off for the IB ACIO Tier II Exam is 33% marks to be eligible for the Interview.

  • There will be negative marking of ¼ mark for each wrong answer in Tier-I.
  • No marks would be awarded/deducted for unattended questions in Tier - I.
  • Only those candidates would be called for Tier-II exam who come up to a certain standard in Tier-I.
  • For Tier-II examination, there will be a minimum cut off marks of 33%.
  • Based on the combined performance in Tier-I, Tier-II and interview, the candidates would be shortlisted for final selection subject to successful completion of their Character and Antecedent verification followed by medical examination
