Introduction
Understanding the exam pattern and syllabus will help the candidates in devising effective preparation strategies. Speed/ Time management is vital in obtaining a good score in any competitive exam and hence, analysis of exam pattern and syllabus is very crucial to be able to complete the exams in the stipulated time.
The IBPS RRB Group B Selection Process has two phases. The two phases (Preliminary Exam and Main Exam) are written exams (conducted online).
Pattern
- IBPS RRBs Group B Clerk Office Assistants (Multi-purpose) Prelim Exam is an online Objective Type exam.
- IBPS RRBs Group B Clerk (Multi-purpose) Prelim Exam has a duration of 45 minutes and Maximum Marks : 80.
- IBPS RRBs Group B Clerk (Multi-purpose) Prelim Exam has 2 sections as shown in table below.
- IBPS RRBs Group B Clerk (Multi-purpose) Prelim Exam is a qualifying exam for Main Exam.
- A candidate should clear the cut-off for each section and total cut-off score of IBPS RRBs Group B Clerk (Multi-purpose) Prelim Exam to appear for IBPS RRBs Group B Clerk (Multi-purpose) Main Exam.

Note: *Candidates(for both posts) have to qualify in both the tests by securing minimum cut-off marks. An adequate number of candidates in each category, depending upon requirements, will be shortlisted for Online Main Examination.
PENALTY FOR WRONG ANSWERS (APPLICABLE TO ALL – PRELIMINARY AND MAIN EXAMINATIONS)
- There will be a penalty for wrong answers marked in the Objective Tests. For each question for which a wrong answer has been given by the candidate one fourth or 0.25 of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted as penalty to arrive at corrected score. If a question is left blank, i.e. no answer is marked by the candidate; there will be no penalty for that question.
- "Candidates should have the knowledge of the Official Language of the State for which he is submitting the application.
- Selected candidates are required to prove their knowledge of the Official Language of the respective States, before joining"
The IBPS RRBs Office Assistants (Multi-purpose) Main Exam is also an online exam and has a total of 200 marks.
