  • IBPS SO Prelim Exam is an online Objective Type exam.

  • The test consist of 3 Sections with a duration of 40 minutes for each section and Maximum Marks: 125.

  • IBPS SO Prelim Exam - For each wrong answer, there is a Negative Marking of 0.25 marks.

  • IBPS SO Prelim Exam is a qualifying exam for IBPS SO Main Exam.

  • A candidate should clear the cut-off for each section and total cut-off score of IBPS SO Prelim Exam to appear for IBPS SO Main Exam.

    Reading Comprehension: Reading comprehension in IBPS English consists of a passage and questions based on the passage. Candidates can have a quick glance at the questions before reading the entire passage. Reading the questions first will give a glimpse of what should be looked for in the passage.
    Cloze Test:

      Cloze Test is a type of comprehension exercise in which the reader is required to add words that have been omitted from the passage. This has to be done by:
      Filling the blanks in passages and comprehensions and choosing words in a running passage to maintain the sequence of various sentences in the paragraphs.
      For every blank, you will be given 5 choices and you have to select the closest one.

    Tips:
      Read the passage thoroughly.
      Link the previous and next sentences.
      Be careful with nouns, pronouns, verbs, prepositions, conjunction, article, and tenses.
      Eliminate options accordingly.

    Sentence Correction: Sentence correction questions are based upon the fundamentals or basics of the English language.
    Tips:
      For this part, candidates must know the basic rules of grammar
      To improve scores in this part, candidates must be regular with their reading.
      Also, you must know the correct usage of words so that you can easily correct the sentences.

    Error Detection: This English section contains error detection topics. The question in which you have to find out the errors related to grammar or spelling.

      Candidates should be careful with grammar and should have a good understanding of sentence formation.
      This is one of the least time-consuming questions in the English section. So, try to solve these in the beginning.

    Para Jumbles: Para Jumbles are the important questions asked in the IBPS English exam. In these questions, you have to rearrange the parts of sentences to form a meaningful sentence.
    Tips:
      Read the sentences carefully and find what is being talked about in the paragraph.
      Try to find out a clue from pronouns, adverbs, articles, definers, connectors, etc.
      You should first arrange phrases and then add those phrases in a meaningful manner.

    As this section has no practical application in banking jobs. This section is important because it reflects you, your ability to handle situations and the most important thing is how you approach, how you think and handle/ solve the situation in less time.
    Tip 1: First understand the basic concepts of different topics.
    Tip 2: Identify the topics that scare you most and work hard to get a good hold over them.
    Tip 3: Lot of practice is required to excel in this section. Tip 4: our primary focus should be on accuracy because there is negative marking for every wrong answer.
    Tip 5: If you are not perfect in reasoning section, take it at last. Remember it is a time-consuming part doesn’t waste your time here if concepts are not clear.
    Tip 6: Don’t spend lots of time on a single question.

    Quantitative section is the toughest part of IBPS SO Preparation. Most of the students are afraid of this part. Aptitude paper design to tests your calculation skills and knowledge of school level mathematics. You should have well prepared for formulas, concepts, properties, shortcuts tricks, etc. to get success in this subject.

    Tip 8: Try to give priority to areas like Sports, Government Affairs or technology, news on banking sectors, and economic and business news.
