The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the JEE Main Notification 2020. Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) Main is the national level undergraduate engineering entrance exam. The exam is the gateway for the admission to various B.Tech/ B.E. programmes offered by 31 NITs, 23 IIITs and 23 CFTIs.
The JEE Main Examination was being conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) till 2018. From 2019, JEE Main will be conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA), twice a year.

  • NTA conducted JEE Main Paper 1 for BE/BTech candidates in two slots on January 9, 10, 11 and 12, 2019.

  • The first slot was held from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm.

  • The second slot was held from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm.

  • A total of 9, 29, 198 candidates registered for the paper 1.

  • A total of 1, 80, 052 candidates registered for the paper 2.

  • All the sections were conducted in CBT mode.

  • Chemistry were easy compare to Physics.

  • Mathematics was the toughest. According to JEE aspirants,

  • No technical glitches faced by the candidates.

  • JEE Main 2019 Paper 2 for BArch courses was held in a single session on January 8, 2019.

JEE Main Exam Analysis 2019 Paper 1 - (Shift wise):
National Testing Agency (NTA) conducted JEE Main Paper 1 from January 9 to 12 in two shifts.
Forenoon Session:
  • The overall difficulty level of the question paper seems to be moderate.

  • There were no glitches in the exam, it went off smoothly.

  • Paper was lengthy.

  • The questions were easy but time-consuming.

  • Physics and Chemistry section was easy while Mathematics was tough.

  • The question paper was mainly based on calculations and formula based.

  • Speed and accuracy needed to complete the paper on time.

  • Need thorough revision and formula memorization to complete the paper.

JEE Main Exam 2019 Paper 1 Questions Based on Candidate's Feedback:
Mathematics:
  • MAXm volume occupied by a cone and cylinder

  • Matrix multiplication, system of linear equations ( inconsistent)

  • Function, mathematical reasoning and statistics (no height and distance)

  • Pnc (combination), probability (random variable)

  • Vector 3d (simple)

  • Coordinate geometry (formula based)

  • Lhopital's rule, continuity

  • Complex no. (Calculation of only imaginary part)

Physics:
  • Magnetism (calculation of magnetic field, Force)

  • Mechanics

  • Electrostatic (neutral charge distance, maximum electric field)

  • Numerical on Photoelectric effect, de Broglie wavelength

  • Em waves, polarisation, spherical lens

  • Current electricity (drift velocity, ckt problem)

  • Radioactivity

Chemistry:
  • Basic strength of amines

  • isotopes of H2

  • Freundlich isotherm

  • Lialh4 reduction

  • Copper pyrites, MOT

  • Numerical from electrochemistry and chemical kinetics

  • Ppm of safe drinking water

  • Stability of carbonates(s block)

  • Statement on Raoult's law, calculation of Molarity

  • pH determination on acid and base

  • Spin only MM

Afternoon Shift:
  • The exam was moderately difficult

  • Mathematics questions were evenly distributed throughout the syllabus.

  • More multi-application based question was there.

  • Physics and Mathematics concepts repeated from previous year papers.

  • Chemistry was tough. Maximum inorganic chemistry questions were against normal trends.
Forenoon Shift:
  • The overall paper was average (moderately difficult)

  • In mathematics 2 to 3 questions were repeated to a greater extent from the last year paper.

  • Physics and Mathematics- They were mostly calculation based.

  • All topics were covered in all the three subjects.

  • Chemistry and Physics- Mostly new questions were asked.

  • Chemistry- The paper was mostly theoretical and less calculation.

Forenoon Shift - Subject Wise description of question paper:
Mathematics:
  • Paper is difficult as compared to last year and 9th January shifts I and shift II.

  • Questions from 11th syllabus were more as compared to 12th syllabus.

  • One question of Set-Relation and one from statistics was from JEE Main specific syllabus.

Physics:
  • The paper is again on difficult side as compared to morning shift paper of January 9, 2019 but of same level of evening shift paper of Jan 9, 2019.

  • Questions from Magnetic Field and Mechanics were difficult.

  • Modern physics was on easier side.

  • The paper was dominated by 12th syllabus as compared to 11th syllabus.

  • Out of 30 questions 18 from 12th and 12 from 11th Syllabus appeared in paper.

Chemistry:
  • Inorganic portion is higher than other portion and similarly 12th class portion is more than 11th class.

  • Paper is relatively tougher than 9th January paper and equal to 2018 Mains.

Afternoon Shif:
  • JEE Main specific topics are playing a deciding role.

  • Overall paper is on easier side as compared to the two previous papers.

  • Physics and Maths are comparatively easier but Chemistry on slightly tougher side.

Afternoon Shif - Subject Wise description of question paper:
Mathematics:

  • Overall paper is easy as compared to morning shift and similar to 9th January, 2019.

  • Paper is easy as compared to last year.

  • Two question asked from JEE Main specific syllabus (One from Statistics and one from Mathematical Reasoning).

Physics:

  • The paper of physics held on 10th January, 2019 evening shift was similar to that of morning shift of 9th January.

  • Again dominated by 12th syllabus over 11th syllabus. From modern physics question on Zener Diode is asked first time in this phase.

  • The question on Wheat Stone Bridge with color coding of Resistances was on innovative side.

  • 2019. It is on easier side as compared to the papers of 9th January, 2019, evening shift & 10th January, 2019, morning shift.

  • Young’s Double Slit Experiment and color coding of Resistances are the two very hot topic from where the questions get appeared in all the papers till this.

Chemistry:

  • There are more number of questions from 12th class syllabus as compared to 11th. Number of questions from

  • Organic Chemistry are slightly dominant in this shift. This Paper has same difficulty level as that of first shift.
Forenoon Shift:
  • Overall the paper was tougher in Mathematics & Chemistry side but comparatively easier on Physics side.

  • Number of questions in the paper was 90 (30 Questions each in Physics, Chemistry and Math’s)

  • From Physics and Chemistry point of view, 12th syllabus dominated over 11th but in Mathematics the two portions are of equal weightage.

Forenoon Shif - Subject Wise description of question paper:
Physics:
  • Two questions from JEE Main specific syllabus are asked. One was on Electromagnetic Wave and one was on Zener Diode

  • The Paper is almost like the paper of evening shift of 10th January 2019. The Electrodynamics portion dominated over the portion of Modern physics in 12th syllabus.

  • It is the first time in this phase when question on Charging and Discharging of an Inductor through Resistance is asked.

  • Mechanics and Thermodynamics played an important role in this paper.

Chemistry:
  • Three questions (One from Chemistry in Everyday Life, one from Environmental Chemistry and one from Biomolecule) are from JEE Main specific syllabus.

  • In this paper majority of questions are asked from class 12th syllabus (Approx 60%).

  • Total number of questions from Physical Chemistry is comparatively more than Inorganic and Organic Chemistry. Difficulty level of this paper is relatively higher than previous papers.

Mathematics:
  • Weightage of class 11th and 12th are approximate equal.

  • Paper is difficult relative to 9th and 10th January, 2019 paper. Paper is also difficult compare to last year.

  • Questions of Co-ordinate geometry are relatively more difficult

  • Two questions are of JEE Main specific syllabus (One from Statistics and another from Mathematical Reasoning).

Afternoon Shift:
  • This paper of JEE Main is on easier side as compared to previous ones. Surprisingly the 12th board part from chemistry heavily dominated over 11th part.

  • Number of questions in the paper was 90 (30 Questions each in Physics, Chemistry and Math’s)

  • 70% questions were from 12th portion.

  • Again the JEE Main specific topics played the crucial role & will be the deciding factor in selection.

Afternoon Shif - Subject Wise description of question paper:
Mathematics:
  • Overall paper is average. Paper is easy as compared to 10th and 11th morning shift paper.

  • One question of mathematical reasoning was of JEE Main specific syllabus.

  • Weightage of co-ordinate geometry was more as compared to other days.

Physics:
  • The paper is almost of same level as of previous question papers.

  • Mechanics and Modern Physics dominated over other parts.

  • First time the questions from Hydrogen Spectrum and Modulation appeared in this paper.

  • The questions from Potentiometer get replaced by Meter Bridge from Practical Physics section.

  • The paper is again controlled by JEE Main specific topics like Semi-conductor and Communication System as two questions were there from these topics.

Chemistry:
  • In this paper, approx two-third of total questions in chemistry are from 12th syllabus.

  • Physical, Inorganic and Organic Chemistry have almost equal weightage in this paper.

  • This paper is easy in comparison to previous paper.

  • One question from Chemistry in Everyday Life has been asked which is JEE Main specific syllabus and one question from Environmental Chemistry is also asked.
Forenoon Shift:
  • Overall - Moderate Paper

  • Questions were mostly single concept based questions as observed mostly in all other slots.

  • Mathematics - Lengthy and Calculative

  • Chemistry - Easiest (Mostly NCERT based Questions)

  • Physics - Moderate

  • Uniform Questions from all part of the syllabus.

Afternoon Shif:
  • The level of the exam was moderate and scoring if you prepare well.

  • As per experts, the Mathematics section was moderate to difficult level.

  • Some questions involved calculations and most of the questions were from probability and linear programming.

  • Physics section was easy to moderate level. All chapters were covered and you can solve all the questions if the basic concept is clear.

  • As usual in the Chemistry section was the easiest one. Most of the questions were directly NCERT based. Memory-based and numerical question was there in the chemistry section.

  • Overall math’s section is lengthy and calculative.

  • Equal weightage was given to each subject but most of the question is from the class 12th syllabus.

JEE Main Exam Analysis 2019 Paper 2 - (Shift wise):
National Testing Agency (NTA) conducted JEE Main Paper 2 on January 8 in two shifts. There were no changes in the pattern of Paper 2 of JEE Main compared to previous years.
  • Paper 2 will be for B.Arch/ B.Planning programs.

  • Mathematics and General Aptitude section were conducted in CBT mode.

  • Drawing Test was conducted in Pen-Paper mode.

  • Candidates did not face any technical glitches.

Forenoon Shift:
  • Conducted for B.Arch. and B.Planning

  • The Reporting time was 7:30 am

  • Timings for Shift 1 is 9:30 am to 12:30 pm

  • Total 83 Questions were asked out of which: Math - 30; General Aptitude - 50 and Drawing - 3

  • Mathematics section:
    • As per candidates, the section contained irregular questions as only 40% questions were framed out of CBSE class 12 syllabi while 60% questions were from CBSE class 11 syllabi.

  • General Aptitude section:
    • Questions on identifying the top view, front view of 3D objects and shapes were asked.

    • 10 - 15 questions on GK like full form of ISRO or NASA and also location of places with architectural importance.

  • Drawing section:
    • According to candidates the difficulty level was easy.

    • The first question is for 30 marks and had 3 parts, out of 3 only 1 question had to be answered.

    • In second question is for 20 marks, a square design was given and candidates had to draw the same by drawing the replica to double its size.

    • While the third question is for 20 marks, candidates had to draw a square with random designs using curved lines & color.

Afternoon Shift:

  • The Reporting Time was 12:30 pm

  • Timings for Shift II is 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm

  • Total 83 Questions were asked out of which: Math – 30; General Aptitude – 50 and Drawing – 3.

  • Mathematics section: most of the Candidates stated that this section was the toughest as compared to the other two.

  • General Aptitude was the easiest among all three.

JEE Main Exam Analysis 2020 Paper 1 - (Shift wise):
National Testing Agency (NTA) conducted JEE Main Paper 1 from 6th to 11th January 2020 in two shifts.
Maths:
    distance between 2 points related questions
    3D geometry related questions
    Integration and differentiation related questions
    Geometry related questions.

Aptitude:
    In aptitude question was asked on where is Konark temple located.
    There were questions on explaining the top view, side view and view from other angles of a 3 D model.

Drawing:
    1. The first question was to make anything from using cylinders.
    2. The 3 choices in question number 2 were:
    – Make a scene of a school playground, or – Make the face of grandparents, or – Draw a gymnast doing exercise

Aptitude:
    1. top view of any building is given how it will be its side view and vice-versa. 2. Parallel pipe related questions 3. vector equations related questions

B.Plan section:

    1. who is the architect of LIC building 2. Ministers and government-related questions

Maths:

    1. probability 2. conic sections 3. coordinate geometry 4. calculus questions

Drawing: Q1. Draw any of the following – A beautiful building. or – Your mom is looking outside a train window, to a distance. or – Draw an aesthetic card from an equilateral triangle.
