RPF Constable General Instructions

shape Introduction

RPF Constable General Instructions are provided to familiarize the candidates with the different policies and regulations of the Examination, Examination center and in general about the Do’s and Dont’s in the recruitment process. This chapter covers the instructions pertaining to but not limited to: what kind of stationery items to be carried inside the examination hall, particulars to be noted, during the examination, end of the examination, proof of identity to be submitted etc.
  • Computer Based Test (CBT) shall be held simultaneously for all Zonal Railways and RPSF.

  • Admission to all stages of recruitment process shall be purely provisional, subject to the candidates satisfying the prescribed eligibility conditions.

  • Mere issue of e-call letter to the candidates will NOT imply that their candidature has been finally accepted by the CRC.

  • CRC may reject the candidature of any applicant at any stage of recruitment process in case the candidate is found to be not fulfilling the requisite criteria and if appointed, such candidate shall be removed from service summarily.

  • Before applying for the post notified in this notification, candidate should satisfy himself/ herself that he/she fulfils all the eligibility norms including age, height, chest, educational qualification, physical and medical standards. Candidate should ensure that he/she has requisite qualification from recognized University/Board /Institute as on the date of Closure for submission of the application for this Employment Notice. Those awaiting results of the final examinations for the prescribed qualification are not eligible and hence NEED NOT apply.

  • Candidates submitting more than one application with different particulars like name/Father’s name/Category/educational qualification will be summarily rejected.

  • Candidates should enter their Name, Father’s Name and Date of Birth as recorded in 10th/ Matriculation certificate only. In cases of name change, candidates shall indicate their changed Name only in the ONLINE application. However, other details shall match with the Matriculation or Equivalent certificate. Date of such change (or) application for such change shall be prior to the last date of submission of ONLINE application. Gazette Notification or any other legal document as applicable for such cases shall have to be submitted at the time of Document Verification (DV).

  • In case candidate has changed his name, then gazette notification or any other legal document as applicable should be submitted at the time of document verification. Such candidates should indicate their changed name in the application. However other details should match with the Matriculation or equivalent certificate. Date of such change should be prior to the date of application.

  • Signatures of the candidates on all documents should be identical, either in English or Hindi and must be in running hand writing and not in block/capital or disjointed letters. Signatures in different style or language at the time of CBT, PET/PMT and DV etc. may result in cancellation of Candidature.

  • Signature and digital impression of both thumbs of all candidates appearing for the PET & PMT will be obtained.

  • Dates of Examinations will also be published on the official websites of Indian Railways. Thereafter, e-call letters for the CBT, PET, PMT and DV (as applicable) should be downloaded ONLY from websites of the Indian Railways. The examination centre, date and shift indicated in the call letter shall be final.

  • Vacancies indicated in the Employment Notification are provisional and may increase or decrease or even may become NIL in total or in specific communities/posts/units at a later stage depending upon the actual need of the Railway Administration. Also, additional posts if required by the railway may also be included at the later stage. CRC reserves the right to introduce additional CBT, PET, PMT, DV etc without assigning any reason. The Railway Administration also reserves the right to cancel the notified vacancies at its discretion and such decision will be final and binding on all. In the event of cancellation of notified vacancies, the examination fee paid by the candidates will not be refunded.

  • Application shall be filled by the candidate only in English.

  • The onus shall be upon the candidates to prove that all the information filled in/submitted by him/her in the application is true.

  • Free sleeper Class Railway Pass admissible to SC/ST candidates will be part of e-call letter when they are called for various stages of selection viz. CBT/PET/PMT/DV (as applicable) as per the details of the valid Caste certificate furnished in ONLINE application.

  • At the time of obtaining reservation and during journey, the Reservation clerk and/or Ticket Checking staff will ask for the original SC/ST category certificate for verification of genuineness of the candidate. Any attempt to misuse this travelling authority shall lead to rejection of candidature at any stage of the selection process including debarment for future recruitments.

  • CRC reserves the right to incorporate any subsequent changes/modification/additions in the terms & conditions of recruitment under the Employment Notice as necessitated and applicable.

  • To avoid last minutes rush, candidates are advised in their own interest to submit ONLINE application much before the closing date since there may be a possibility of inability/failure to log on to the website of Indian Railways on account of heavy load on the internet or website during last days. CRC shall not accept any responsibility for the candidates not being able to submit their application within the last day on account of aforesaid reasons or any other reason.

  • Selected candidates will have to undergo initial training.

RPF Constable General Instructions – Prohibited Items to the Exam Center:
  • Any stationery item like textual material (printed or written), bits of papers, Geometry/Pencil Box, Plastic Pouch, Calculator, Scale, Writing Pad, Pen Drives, Log Table, Electronic Pen/Scanner.

  • Any communication device like Mobile Phone, Bluetooth, Earphones, Microphone, Pager, Health Band etc.

  • Other items like Goggles, Handbags, Hairpin, Hairband, Belt, Cap, Any watch/Wrist Watch, Camera, Any metallic item, Any eatable item opened or packed, water bottle.

  • Any other item which could be used for unfair means for hiding communication devices like camera, blue tooth devices etc.
RPF Constable General Instructions - Particulars to be Noted

  • Please note carefully your Roll Number, date, time and venue for the examination given.

  • Please do not bring any valuable belongings except the essential materials required for the examinations.

  • Students should report at the centre

  • Do not leave your seat unless you are allowed.

RPF Constable General Instructions - Punctuality in Attendance

  • Candidates should be present at the examination hall at least 30 minutes prior to reporting time.

  • Candidates arriving late will not be permitted to enter the Examination Hall.

RPF Constable General Instructions - Compliance with Instructions

  • You should scrupulously follow the instructions given by test administrators and the invigilators at all the stages of the examination for which you have been called.

  • If you violate the instructions you will be disqualified and may also be asked to leave the examination hall.

RPF Constable General Instructions - Use of Books, Notes, Calculators & Cell Phones
  • No calculator separate or with watch is allowed inside the examination hall.

  • No Cell phones will be allowed inside the examination hall.

  • No books, slide rulers, note books or written notes will be allowed inside the examination hall.

RPF Constable General Instructions - Use of Stationery
  • You must bring stationery such as pencils and ball point pen with you.

RPF Constable General Instructions - Rough work
  • You should do all the necessary rough work on sheet provided only. After the online test is over, you should hand over the sheet, given for rough work to the invigilator and after the Descriptive Paper (DP) is over you should hand over the DP to the invigilator before leaving the room.

  • Any candidate who does not return the above material or is found to attempt to take or pass on the questions or answers inside or outside the examination hall will be disqualified and the RPF may take further action against him as per rules of the RPF.

RPF Constable General Instructions – Guidelines for Photograph
Guidelines for Scanning and Uploading the Photograph (35mm X 45mm) & Signature: Before applying online, a candidate will be required to have a scanned (digital) image of his/her photograph and signature as per the specifications mentioned below.
Select the Upload Photo tab and upload your recent colour photograph. The photograph should comply with the following requirements.
  • The Colour passport photograph with white/light colour back ground.

  • Photograph of size 35mm X 45mm with name and date printed on it.

  • It should be in JPG/JPEG format scanned with 100 DPI.

  • The size of the photograph should be between 15 - 40 KB.

  • The colour photograph may be developed in a professional studio. Photographs taken using mobile and self composed portraits or selfie may result in rejection of application.

  • The photo should have clear front view of the candidate without cap and sunglasses.

  • The face should occupy at least 50% of the area of the photograph with a full face view looking at the camera directly.

  • The main features of the face must not be covered by hair of the head, any cloth or any shadow.

  • Forehead, eyes, nose and chin should be clearly visible.

  • In case the candidate wears glass, then the photograph should not have any glare on glasses.

  • The photograph must match with the candidate appearance on the day of various stages of CBT, PET, PMT and DV.

RPF Constable General Instructions - During Examination
  • You are not allowed to communicate by word of mouth or otherwise with other candidates (this includes the time when answer scripts are being collected).

  • Please raise your hand if you wish to communicate with an invigilator.

  • Unless granted permission by an invigilator, you are not allowed to leave your seat.

  • Once you have entered the examination hall, you will not be allowed to leave the hall until one hour after the examination has commenced.

  • If, for any reason, you are given permission to leave the hall temporarily, you must be accompanied by an invigilator throughout your absence from the examination hall. You are required to leave your handphone on your desk when you leave the hall temporarily.

  • All answers, with the exception of graphs, sketches, diagrams, etc. should be written in black or blue pen unless otherwise specified. Answers written in pencil will not be marked. The blank pages in the answer book are to be used only for candidates' rough work. Solutions or any other materials written on these blank pages will not be marked.

  • Do not write on, mark, highlight or deface any reference materials provided for the examination. If found doing so, the reference materials will be removed from your use for the rest of the examination and you will be made to pay for the cost of the materials that have to be replaced.

RPF Constable General Instructions - End of the Examination
  • You are NOT allowed to leave the examination hall during the last 15 minutes of the examination and during the collection of the answer scripts. All candidates must remain seated throughout this period for invigilators to properly account for all answer scripts to be collected.

  • Do NOT continue to write after the examination has ended. You are to remain seated quietly while your answer scripts are being collected and counted.

  • No papers, used or unused, may be removed from the examination hall. You may take your own question paper with you unless otherwise instructed.

  • You are to stay in the examination hall until the Chief Invigilator has given the permission to leave. Do NOT talk until you are outside of the examination hall.

  • You are responsible to ensure that your answer scripts are submitted at the end of the examination. If you are present for the examination and do not submit your answer script, you will be deemed to have sat for and failed the examination concerned. Any unauthorised removal of answer script or part of answer script from the examination hall would deem the answer script as null and void.

  • Once dismissed, you should leave the examination hall quickly and quietly, and remember to take your personal belongings with you.

RPF Constable General Instructions - Proof of Identity:
Candidates must bring their e-call letters along with a valid Photo ID such as Voter Card, Aadhaar Card, printout of e-Aadhaar, Passport, Identity Card issued by the employer in case the candidate is a Govt. Employee, School/ College/ University Photo ID card in ORIGINAL to the examination hall, failing which candidates shall NOT be allowed to appear for the CBT/PET/PMT/DV ( as applicable).
RPF Constable General Instructions - Warning:
  • Beware of touts and job racketeers trying to deceive by false promises of securing job in Railways either through influence or by use of unfair and unethical means. CRC has not appointed any agent or coaching centre for action on its behalf. Candidates are warned against any such claims being made by persons/agencies. Candidates are selected purely as per merit. Please beware of unscrupulous elements and do not fall in their trap. Candidates attempting to influence Central Recruitment Committee, directly or indirectly, shall be disqualified and legal action can be initiated against them.

  • Candidates are advised to consult only the official website of http://www..indianrailways.gov. in as mentioned in the notification above. They should be cautious of FAKE websites put up by unscrupulous elements/touts.
