Recruitment of superior officers and promotion to the rank of Assistant Commandants and from one rank of superior officer to the other rank of superior officers shall be made in accordance with the Railway Protection Force (Group ‘A’ and ‘B’ Posts) Recruitments Rules, 1981, as amended from time to time. Below is the RPF SI Career Progression.

RPF SI Career Progression - Training
Selected candidates will have to undergo a rigorous initial training in any one of the RPF/RPSF training centre or any other such institution as decided by the Railway Administration. The trainee recruits/cadets will be given a stipend of Rs.35,400/- plus other allowances as admissible under the Railway Rules during the period of training. Passing the Final Examination at the end of the training is a must for appointment to the Force.
Every member on appointment to the Force either by direct recruitment or by promotion shall be on probation for a period of two years.
RPF SI Career Progression - Promotion Order
The promotions criteria is two types, one where it will be on basis on inter department examination. The second is it done on basis of work experience and your performance.
