RRB JE Exam Pattern

Understanding the exam pattern and syllabus will help the candidates in devising effective preparation strategies. Speed/ Time management is vital in obtaining a good score in any competitive exam and hence, analysis of RRB JE Exam Pattern and syllabus is very crucial to be able to complete the exams in the stipulated time.
RRB JE Selection Process shall involve three stages: 1st stage Computer Based Test (CBT), 2nd stage CBT and Document Verification/ Medical Examination as applicable.

The 1st Stage CBT consist of multiple choice 100 questions for 100 marks, would be of 1 Hour 30 Minutes duration and will consist of 4 sections as follows:
The section wise Number of questions and marks are as below:

The 2nd Stage CBT consist of multiple choice 150 questions for 150 marks, would be of 2 Hours duration and will consist of 5 sections as follows:

  • Short listing of Candidates for the Document Verification shall be based on the normalized marks obtained by them in 2nd Stage CBT.

  • Candidates called for Document Verification will have to pass requisite medical fitness test(s) conducted by the Railway Administration to ensure that the candidates are medically fit to carry out the duties connected with the post(s) opted by them.

  • Visual Acuity Standard is one of the important criteria of medical fitness of Railway staff.

  • The medical requirements against different Medical Standards for different categories are outlined below:

    Near Vision: Sn: 0.6,0.6 with or without glasses and Must pass test for Colour Vision, Binocular Vision, Night Vision and Mesopic vision
    2 B-1 Physically fit in all respects Distance Vision: 6/9, 6/12 with or without glasses (power of lenses not to exceed 4D),
    Near Vision: Sn: 0.6, 0.6 with or without glasses when reading or close work is required and Must pass test for Colour Vision, Binocular Vision, Night Vision and Mesopic vision.
    3 B-2 Physically fit in all respects Distance Vision: 6/9, 6/12 with or without glasses (power of lenses not to exceed 4D).
    Near Vision: Sn: 0.6, 0.6 with or without glasses when reading or close work is required and Must pass test for Binocular Vision.
    4 C-1 Physically fit in all respects Distance Vision: 6/12, 6/18 with or without glasses.
    Near Vision: Sn: 0.6, 0.6 with or without glasses when reading or close work is required.
