Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has recently released the Notification CEN-01/2019. RRB NTPC Exam is conducted for the recruitment of 35,277 Vacancies for Non-Technical Popular Categories (NTPC) posts. These vacancies are for both Graduate and Non-Graduate candidates. The level in 7th Pay Commission for each post is different and that can be a deciding factor for the candidates while choosing the preference. Below are the major RRB NTPC Roles and Responsibilities performed in different departments.

The RRB NTPC Roles and Responsinbilities i.e. Job & Work Profile depend on the specialization for which the candidates are recruited. There are different specializations under Railway RRB Non-Technical Popular Categories (NTPC) Exam.
    A. Under Graduate Posts:
      1. Junior Clerk cum Typist 2. Accounts Clerk cum Typist 3. Junior Time Keeper 4. Trains Clerk 5. Commercial cum Tickect Clerk

    B. Graduate Posts:
      1. Traffic Assistant 2. Goods Guard 3. Senior Commercial cum Ticket Clerk 4. Senior Clerk cum Typist 5. Junior Account Assistant cum Typist 6. Senior Time Keeper 7. Commercial Apprentice 8. Station Master

RRB NTPC Roles - Under Graduate Posts [12th (+2 Stage)]

1 Traffic Assistant
  • To take care of traffic and signal.

  • He/ She might have to work in different shifts depending upon the movement and management of trains.

  • Onboarding process provides 45 days of training.
  • 2 Goods Guard
  • No fixed timings of work.

  • To monitor the functioning of the vehicle.

  • To conduct checks for loose ends in the train.

  • To identify and address minor issues while train is moving.

  • To ensure brake continuity, Works with Station Master and communicates information about arrival and departure of trains, etc.
  • 3 Senior Commercial cum Ticket Clerk
  • Commercial Checking and Ticket checking have been recently merged by the Central Government.

  • He gets posted in Ticket Booking Offices.

  • He issues tickets to the passengers, books luggage and supervises their loading and unloading.

  • He is sometimes given charge of a small station.
  • 4 Senior Clerk cum Typist
  • Candidates must have good typing efficiency.

  • He manages junior clerks in the departments.

  • He works in various departments (engineering departments: electrical, electronics, mechanical, etc.)

  • Working hours are fixed.
  • 5 Junior Account Assistant cum Typist
  • Takes care of accounts.

  • Keeps track of transactions, expenditures, claim settlements, etc.

  • Makes accounts-related reports.

  • Manages and compiles budgets as per the rules.

  • Checks financial irregularities.

  • Provides support related to administrative tasks in the accounts department.
  • 6 Senior Time Keeper
  • He/ She should maintain the time records of the movement of the trains hence, have to be in sync with the train network.

  • The workload is high as this post reqqquires a great deal of management of time records.

  • The person has to work in different shifts (focus and flexibility).

  • The training period will be of 45 days after selection.
  • 7 Commercial Apprentice
  • He is a mid-level multi-skilled supervisor.

  • He has to maintain the balance between the field staff and people in the higher level of the bureaucracy.

  • Training period: 2 years of training duty as Commercial Clerks, Goods clerks, Commercial Inspectors, Zonal/ Divisional Headquarter Inspector etc.
  • 8 Station Master
  • Supervises the activities in a rail station.

  • In-charge of the station.

  • Responsible to ensure smooth and timely arrival and departure of trains.

  • Ensures passengers do not face any problem.

  • Responsible to keep track of the number of coaches in trains.
  • 5 Commercial cum Ticket Clerk
  • Responsible for issuing tickets through CRS and UTS.

  • Keeps and maintains records related to luggage.
