Introduction
Understanding the exam pattern and syllabus will help the candidates in devising effective preparation strategies. Speed/ Time management is vital in obtaining a good score in any competitive entrance exam and hence, analysis of XAT exam pattern and syllabus is very crucial to be able to complete the exams in the stipulated time.

XLRI has shared a number of changes in the XAT 2019 exam pattern. The XAT 2019 Mock Test reflecting a changed pattern of XAT 2019 exam has been released by XLRI.
Pattern
XAT Exam Pattern
- XAT Exam consist of two parts for a duration of 3 hours i.e. 180 minutes duration. Visually impaired candidates with scribe to get an additional 25 minutes only for Part 1.
- Candidate will be allowed to go to Part 2 in XAT 2019 after completing the time duration of Part 1.
- Exam Timing: 10:00 AM to 01:00 PM
- The Total Number of Questions for the Exam is: 99 [74 (Part-1) + 25 (Part-2)].
- Marks for every correct answer: 1.
- Negative marking for every wrong answer: 0.25.
- Negative marking for every unattempted question beyond 8 unattempted questions: 0.10.
- Negative marking does not apply for General Knowledge.
There are 3 sections in Part 1 of XAT 2019 exam with a total of 74 questions. The sections are Verbal Ability & Logical Reasoning (26 questions); Decision Making (21 questions); Quantitative Aptitude & Data Interpretation (27 questions)
