XAT Selection Process

shape Introduction

XLRI, Jamshedpur, will conduct the XAT Selection Process after the announcement of the XAT exam result. The candidates who qualify the XAT 2019 exam and meet the cutoff criterion set by respective participating institutes will be qualified for the XAT Selection Procedure. XAT 2019 result would be declared tentatively in the last week of January.

After the declaration of results, each participating institute will release their cutoffs to shortlist the candidates for the XAT Selection Process 2019. Usually, the selection process comprises of:
    1. Group Discussion (GD) 2. Essay Writing 3. Personal Interview (PI)

  • In Group Discussions, candidates are divided into a group of 8-10 participants.

  • Group is given a topic to discuss among themselves for 20-30 minute.

  • In Group Discussion, the committee normally checks for leadership qualities, confidence, content and delivery.

  • It’s a process to screen the Candidates’ potential as well as their skills.

  • GD is held only for candidates who have applied for PGDM in HRM, GMBA, and regular PGDM course.
  • Duration of Personal Interview depends totally on Candidates.

  • The purpose of conducting a personal interview is to explore the responses of the candidates, his/ her interpersonal and soft skills, confidence and thought clarity to gather more and deeper information/ understanding about the candidate.

  • For overseas candidates of General Management Programme, Interviews can be conducted over G-talk/ Skype in online mode via the Internet. Such candidates will have to get in touch with the admissions office for scheduling the interview online after XAT Result.

    Final XAT Selection Process:
  • Candidates will have to apply separately to the institutes accepting XAT scores within the deadline.

  • The participating institutes will assess the candidates’ eligibility based on their XAT 2019 percentile/ score, past academic records, work experience, etc.

  • The selection rounds will be conducted for shortlisted candidates. XLRI and its member institutes and around 150 other B-schools which accept XAT scores for their admission process will conduct GD, PI and Essay Writing as the selection rounds before announcing the final list of selected students for admissions.

  • The selected candidates are offered admission to the management programmes in participating institutes.

  • The final result will then be sent to selected candidates by post or on their registered email address.
