This chapter provides a Quick Guide and a Detailed Guide (with elaborate instructions) for filling Online Application for SSC CHSL 2019-2020. Candidates should have the do the following before applying for SSC CHSL recruitment process.
  • Scan the photograph and signature.
  • Have the necessary details (name, date of birth, etc.) ready before going for online registration.
  • Have the Credit card/Debit card available for the payment of online fee.
  • Have a valid email Id and phone number as the candidates would be communicated through email and phone number.
The online application process for SSC CHSL 2019-2020 is an easy procedure, provided, the candidates have all the required data before starting the process.
  • Candidates must apply online through SSC Official Website or through 'Click here to apply' link provided at http://www.ssc.nic.in [latex]\rightarrow[/latex] Apply [latex]\rightarrow[/latex] CHSL .
  • Click on the “Examination” section and get the recruitment details.
  • Now click on “Part-I Registration” and enter the required details in the form.
  • Fill all personal information which is asked then submit the form. The Part-I Registration is completed.
  • A new Registration Id and Password will be generated.
  • Note down the Registration ID and password and keep them safely. This would be your permanent Registration ID & Password which would be required to apply for this examination as well as any other Recruitment Examination of the Commission.
  • Now to proceed to “Part-II Registration”. Upload the scanned copies of passport size photo and signature.
  • Make the payment through the accepted payment mode.
  • Verify the details carefully and click “Submit” button.
  • Take out the Print out of the Application Form for future reference.

Application fee: Fee payable: Rs. 100/-(Rupees One Hundred only). Fee can be paid through SBI Challan/ SBI Net Banking or by using Visa/ Mastercard/ Maestro Credit/ Debit card.
Candidates may note that online application will be accepted at https://ssc.nic.in/ only. Fee paid in respect of online application through SBI Challan/Net banking and any credit and debit cards will be accepted.

Payment:
✦ The payment can be made by using Debit Cards (RuPay/Visa/MasterCard/Maestro), Credit Cards, Internet Banking, IMPS, Cash Cards/ Mobile Wallets by providing information as asked on the screen.
✦ On successful completion of the transaction, e-receipt and application form will be generated; which may be printed for record. The printout of the application form is not to be sent to the Bank.
✦ If the online transaction is not completed successfully, please register again and make payment online.
✦ There is also a provision to reprint the e-Receipt and Application form containing fee details, at the later stage.

2. Candidates should read the instructions given in the Notice of Examination carefully before filling up the online one time 'Registration Form'/ Application Form.
Procedure for Online Submission of Application: 1. The Commission has devised a simplified format for the online application procedure. Click Here for detailed guide to SSC CHSL Online Application Process. In this process, candidates may register once and may apply for any examination conducted by SSC. One-time registration is the permanent database for candidates. The Registration ID and password provided by the system should be kept safely so that it can be used for applying any examination conducted by SSC. The Registration facility is available to the candidates throughout the year on SSC CHSL Website.
2. The registered candidates may log into the system and can proceed for application filling. The facility of on-line application (including payment of fees through debit card) will be available from 03-12-2019 to 10-01-2020 (5.00PM). However, candidates who wish to make the payment through challan of SBI, may make the payment to designated branches of SBI within the working hours of bank upto 14-01-2020 provided the challan has been generated by them before 5.00 PM of 14-01-2020. The offline challan generation facility will be available upto 12-01-2020 (5.00 PM) only.
3. The online submission of the application may be made at official website. Candidate should read the instructions in this Notice carefully before making any entry or selecting options. Candidate should provide all the required details while filling up the online form. Mandatory fields are marked with * (asterisk) sign. The filling of online application contains two parts: a. Registration Part (In case not registered earlier) b. Application Part
4. In Registration Part, candidates will have to fill basic information. On submission of details, candidates shall be prompted to check the details and make any correction in the registration.
5. Then a page with Registration ID and password will appear. Note down the Registration ID and password and keep it safely. The application procedure is incomplete without application part. Application part requires filling of payment details, uploading of photograph and scanned signature. On-line application will be complete only if scanned signature and photo are uploaded as per instructions.
6. To pay fee in cash, candidates should take print-out of challan generated online after completion of Application Part and deposit the requisite fee in pay branch of State Bank of India and then continue within the stipulated date and time.
7. The digital size of the file of the photographs must be more than 30 kb and less than 50 kb with resolution of 100 pixel width and 120 pixel height.
8. The signature must be uploaded in jpg format. The digital size of the signature file must be more than 1 kb and less than 12 kb with resolution of 140 pixel width by 60 pixel height.
9. Candidates are advised to go through the instructions carefully before filling up the application form.
10. Request for change/correction in any particular in the Application Form shall not be entertained under any circumstances. The Staff Selection Commission will not be responsible for any consequence arising out of non acceptance of any correction/addition/deletion in any particular filled in application form whatever the reasons may be. Photograph Image:
  • Photograph must be a recent passport style colour picture.
  • The picture should be in colour, against a light-coloured, preferably white, background.
  • Look straight at the camera with a relaxed face.
  • If flash is used 13 then ensure that there is no red-eye and, in case of glasses, your eyes should be visible.
  • The face should not cover less than 80 % of the entire photo.
  • Photograph should be of 8 bit JPG format and its size should be between 30-50 Kb with resolution of 100x120 (pixels).
  • Ensure that the size of the scanned image is not more than 50KB. If the size of the file is more than 50 KB, then adjust the settings of the scanner such as the DPI resolution, no. of colours etc., during the process of scanning.

Signature Image:
  • The applicant has to sign on white paper with Black Ink pen.
  • The signature must be signed only by the applicant and not by any other person.
  • The signature will be used to put on the Hall Ticket and wherever necessary.
  • If the Applicant’s signature on the answer script, at the time of the examination, does not match the signature on the Hall Ticket, the applicant will be disqualified.
  • The signature must be uploaded in jpg format.
  • The digital size of the signature file must be more than 1-12 Kb with resolution of 140X60 (pixel) height.
  • Application with illegible/blurred Signature will be rejected summarily.

Scanning the Photograph & Signature:
  • Set the scanner resolution to a minimum of 200 dpi (dots per inch).
  • Set Color to True Color.
  • File Size as specified above.
  • Crop the image in the scanner to the edge of the photograph/signature, then use the upload editor to crop the image to the final size (as specified above).
  • The image file should be JPG or JPEG format. An example file name is: image01.jpg or image01.jpeg Image dimensions can be checked by listing the folder files or moving the mouse over the file image icon.
  • Candidates using MS Windows/MSOffice can easily obtain photo and signature in .jpeg format not exceeding 50KB & 20KB respectively by using MS Paint or MSOffice Picture Manager. Scanned photograph and signature in any format can be saved in .jpg format by using ‘Save As’ option in the File menu and size can be reduced below 50KB(photograph) & 20KB(signature) by using crop and then resize option (Please see point (i) & (ii) above for the pixel size) in the ‘Image’ menu.

Procedure for Uploading the Photograph and Signature:
  1. There will be two separate links for uploading Photograph and Signature.
  2. Click on the respective link “Upload Photograph / Signature”.
  3. Browse & Select the location where the Scanned Photo / Signature file has been saved.
  4. Select the file by clicking on it.
  5. Click the ‘Upload’ button.

Important Points to consider:
  • Make sure to enter all the details correctly. Do not misspell any important information especially the Names, Degrees and every other detail. Any discrepancies/mismatches will result in getting debarred from the selection process.
  • Online Application will not be registered unless the candidate uploads a photograph and signature as specified.
  • In case the face in the photograph or signature is unclear the candidate’s application may be rejected.
  • Candidates are advised to take a printout of their system generated online application forms after registering.
  • In case the photograph or signature is unclear, the candidate may edit his application and re-upload his photograph or signature.

2. What is cost of application for CHSL Exam? SSC is very economical, when it comes to Application fees. SSC only charges, Rs. 100 as examination fees. Moreover, Female candidates and Reserved category candidates are exempted from payment of application fees.
3. I have 45% marks in 12th, can i fill this form ? Central govt. recruitment is based on merit system, for this they conduct written exam. Less marks in 12th does not create any problem. There is no such specific criteria, you can go ahead.

5. How can I apply for SSC CHSL? You can apply online only. Online application is available from 03-12-2019 to 10-01-2020 (5.00PM).
