• The United States has announced the increase of H-1B work visa application fee by USD 10 as part of its revised selection process.

• China has banned online gaming from 10 pm to 8 am for gamers aged under 18 to curb video game addiction.


• On weekdays, minors can only play for 90 minutes, while they may play for up to three hours on weekends and public holidays. Restrictions were also put on the amount of money minors can transfer to online gaming accounts.

• With the Supreme Court's verdict in the Ayodhya case expected any day now, Uttar Pradesh is conducting surveillance with drones in the district.


• "We have deployed drones in Nayaghat, Nageswarnath, Ram ki Paidi, Hanumankupa road and some areas of Ayodhya.


• We get a real-time assessment with drone surveillance. We also can track people with this. Drones are good for the security purpose," Ayodhya Circle Officer, Arvind Chaurasia told ANI.

• Senior advocate Kapil Sibal submitted to the Supreme Court that seven million Kashmiris had lost their fundamental right to move freely on August 4 merely because the government had “assumed” that the entire populace of Jammu and Kashmir would be opposed to the abrogation of J&K’s special status under Article 370 of the Constitution.

• The Telangana High Court directed the state government to hold discussions with the striking employees of the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) to resolve the over the one-month long strike.

• State cabinet has given a nod for Rs 1,548 crore high-speed internet project in Kerala.


• The project aims to provide free high-speed internet to over 20 lakh below poverty line (BPL) households. The government has plans to complete the project by 2020.

• National Testing Agency, recently, had reopened application process for several examinations which are due in December.


• The purpose of reopening the application window was to allow to students from Jammu and Kashmir to apply for these examinations.


• NTA had allowed the submission of applications over a period of five days which ends today.


• Today, i.e. November 8, is the last date for candidates form Jammu and Kashmir to submit their application for CSIR NET, UGC NET, JEE Main, and IIFT MBA Exam.

• The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has asked schools to develop podcasts on their best practices related to innovations in pedagogy, experiential and active learning, integration of co-curricular areas in main subjects and classroom assessment.


• The board had earlier this year launched a podcast platform called "CBSE-Shiksha Vani" to provide schools the authentic and latest information and guidelines of the board on academic and training initiatives, examinations and other important areas and procedures.

• Delhi Deputy Chief Minister, Manish Sisodia slammed the Centre after the reports claiming that Hindi writer Krishan Chander's story 'Jamun Ka Ped' has been dropped by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) from its class 10 Hindi syllabus.


• Sisodia's reaction comes after media reports doing rounds that 'Jamun Ka Ped' is a satire on bureaucratic red tape in which a famous poet gets trapped under a Jamun tree in the lawns of a secretariat building after a thunderstorm, has been dropped from the Hindi syllabus.

• Infosys Science Foundation (ISF) announced the winners of the Infosys Prize 2019 in six categories today.


• The Prize has been declared for Engineering and Computer Sciences, Humanities, Life Sciences, Mathematical Sciences, Physical Sciences and Social Sciences categories.


• The Prize, given annually, celebrates the success of the recipients in science and research by recognising their achievements in each category, the ISF said in a statement.

• Devendra Fadnavis resigned as Maharashtra Chief Minister on Friday with no sign of a new government and his BJP and its ally Shiv Sena no closer to forming one together.


• Mr Fadnavis met with Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari to hand in his resignation hours before the midnight deadline for government formation.


• Mr. Fadnavis delivered his strongest statement against the Shiv Sena since 2014, when he took over as Chief Minister.


• He also questioned whether the Shiv Sena, which had not spared Prime Minister Narendra Modi from its attacks, was worth continuing an alliance with.
