IBPS PO Selection Process

shape Introduction

The IBPS PO Selection Process involves three phases: Preliminary Examination; Mains Examination and Interview. The preliminary examination would be held on 3rd, 10th & 11th October 2020. Candidates who will clear the prelims exam will proceed to the IBPS PO mains exam to be held on 28th November 2020. Candidates will have to qualify in the mains test to proceed to the final stage of group exercises and interview.

The different phases of the IBPS PO 2020 Selection Procedure are as described below:
Preliminary Examination consisting of Objective Tests for 100 marks will be conducted online. This test would be of 1-hour duration consisting of 3 Sections as follows. There is no separate timing for each section.

  • Candidates who have been shortlisted in the main examination for CWE PO/MT-VIII will subsequently be called for an Interview where the candidate will be tested for personality traits, speaking skills, along with the verifications of the qualifications of the candidate to be conducted by the Participating Organizations and coordinated by the Nodal Bank in each State/ UT with the help of IBPS.

  • Interviews will be conducted at select centres.

  • The centre, address of the venue, time & date of Interview will be informed to the shortlisted candidates in the call letter. Candidates are required to download their interview call letters from authorized IBPS website.

  • Final Selection:

    • The marks obtained in the Preliminary Examination (Phase-I) will not be added for the selection and only the marks obtained in Main Examination (Phase-II) will be added to the marks obtained in Interview (Phase-III) for the preparation of the final merit list.

    • The candidates will have to qualify both in Phase-II and Phase-III separately.

    • The minimum qualifying marks in interview will not be less than 40% (35% for SC/ST/OBC/PWD candidates). The weightage (ratio) of CWE (Main exam) and interview will be 80:20 respectively.

    • The combined final score of candidates shall be arrived at on the basis of scores obtained by the candidates in the Main Examination of CWE PO/MT-VIII and Interview.

    • The selection will be made from the top merit ranked candidates in each category.

    • Results of the candidates who have qualified Interview and the list of candidates finally selected will be made available on the Bank’s website.

    • The final select list will be published in Employment News/ Rozgar Samachar and also in Bank’s website.

    On completion of the interview process, depending on the vacancies to be filled in during the financial year 2019-20 based on the business needs of the Participating Organisations and as reported to IBPS, candidates shortlisted will be provisionally allotted to one of the Participating Organisations, based on merit-cum-preference keeping in view the spirit of Govt. Guidelines on reservation policy, various guidelines issued by Govt. of India/Others from time to time, administrative exigency, etc. Vacancies given in this advertisement are indicative. The provisional allotment shall be done on the basis of final vacancies to be reported by the Participating Organizations.

    Personal Questions like 'Tell me about yourself' question are generally asked in the interview. Also, the following segments are covered under the interview -
    • Questions regarding Educational Background
    • Your Career Objectives and Goals.
    • Questions Related to the Job.
    • Question-Related to Banking and Current Affairs.
    • Questions that can be based on Current Affairs are frequently asked.
    • After getting selected in Interview round, IBPS will likewise send a choice and affirmation email to their enlisted email IDs with respect to the data about the bank they have assigned. After this procedure, the IBPS job reaches a conclusion and further procedure is performed by the assigned banks.

    • The merit list by IBPS will be made on the basis of your marks in the combined exam of pre and mains and in the Interview round. It is important to take note that if two applicants have scored similar marks, at that point according to the date of birth merit request is chosen (the senior one in age is set previously/over the lesser one in age)
    The main role of respective banks starts after allotting provisional allotment to the candidates.
    The bank sent an offer letter consisting of all the details and formalities to the candidates on their registered email IDs and or maybe on their address which was mentioned in the application form. In some of the cases, banks provide information regarding the selection process on their websites by mentioning all the essential formalities. The offer letter consists of the date on which the candidate needs to report to the banks for training. The information regarding all the documents of the candidates they need to carry for the verification process is mentioned in the mail.
    It’s all up to the bank when to call a candidate for training or joining purposes. However, the minimum time between sending the recruitment mail and the result declaration date is basically 20 days or 1 month. It might be possible that the banks may delay sending the information by maybe two, three or six months after the declaration of result.
    Almost all the banks conduct a training session for all the candidates the sessions are usually of 10 to 15 days long and basically organized at the bank on training centers, offices or maybe head offices
