• Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan said on Wednesday it was unacceptable for nuclear-armed states to forbid Ankara from obtaining its own nuclear weapons, but did not say whether Turkey had plans to obtain them.


• "Some countries have missiles with nuclear warheads, not one or two. But (they tell us) we can't have them. This, I cannot accept," he told his ruling AK Party members in the eastern city of Sivas.


• "There is no developed nation in the world that doesn't have them," Erdogan said. In fact, many developed countries do not have nuclear weapons.


• Turkey signed the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty in 1980 and has also signed the 1996 Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty, which bans all nuclear detonations for any purpose.

• Some of the crew of a Swedish-owned oil tanker held by Iran in the Gulf have been released, the Swedish foreign ministry said, weeks after it was taken amid heightened tensions in the region.


• Iranian forces seized control of the British-flagged Stena Impero on July 19 as it was navigating through an international passage in the Strait of Hormuz at the entrance of the Gulf.


• Tehran denied the seizure was a tit-for-tat move after British commandos seized an Iranian oil tanker on July 4 as it passed through Gibraltar's waters, under suspicion it was breaking EU sanctions on oil deliveries to Syria.

• The government has said a bill to stop a no-deal Brexit will complete its passage through the Lords.


• The proposed legislation was passed by MPs on Wednesday, inflicting a defeat on Prime Minister Boris Johnson.


• There were fears pro-Brexit peers could deliberately hold up the bill so it could not get royal assent before Parliament is prorogued next week.


• But the Conservative chief whip in the Lords announced a breakthrough in the early hours after talks with Labour.

• Rescuers have begun to reach areas of the northern Bahamas devastated by Hurricane Dorian, with aerial images showing a trail of destruction.


• PM Hubert Minnis said some areas had been "decimated" as the death toll rose to at least 20.


• The hurricane made landfall on 1 September and battered the Abaco Islands and Grand Bahama, in the north of the archipelago, for two days.

• Provisions of the new Motor Vehicles Act are yet to be implemented in Telangana as the state transport order has not released an order in this regard till date.


• Speaking to ANI, Anil Kumar IPS, Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Hyderabad city said, “In Hyderabad and all across Telangana, the provisions of the new Motor Vehicles Amendment Act, 2019 will come under implementation, once the state transport department issue an order in this regard.”


• He also informed that the Hyderabad traffic police had started a campaign to educate the public about the provisions of the Act soon after it was passed by Parliament in August.

• Prime Minister Narendra Modi met his Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe and the two leaders pledged to deepen the robust bilateral ties between the two nations in a number of areas, including in economic and defence sectors. The two leaders met in Russia.


• PM Modi, who arrived in Russia on a two-day visit, is the first Indian Prime Minister to visit the Russian far east region.


• The meeting between Prime Minister Modi and Shinzo Abe in Vladivostok comes after they met at the G-20 Summit in Osaka in Japan and on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in Biarritz in France.

• Prime Minister Narendra Modi took up with his Malaysian counterpart Mahathir Mohamed the issue of extradition of controversial Islamic preacher Zakir Naik, who is a fugitive in India and has taken shelter in Malaysia.


• PM Modi took up the matter with the Malaysian prime minister during their bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum, Foreign Secretary Vijay Gokhale told media persons while briefing on the meeting.


• It was decided that officials of the two countries will be in touch, he said while responding to a question on the issue in the context of India's request to Malaysia for Naik's extradition.

• Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that Russia will train the Indian astronauts for the country's ambitious manned space mission the Gaganyaan.


• The first Gaganyaan flight scheduled for 2022 will carry three astronauts, who will be picked from among the test pilots in the armed forces.


• Russia will help train Indian astronauts for the manned space mission the Gaganyaan project, PM Modi said in a joint press meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin after their talks here.


• Both PM Modi and Putin welcomed the active work carried out within the framework of the signed MoU in support of the Russian side for the "Gaganyaan".

• Admit card for Chhattisgarh State Eligibility Test (SET) 2019 has been released by Chhattisgarh Professional Examination Board (CGPEB) on its official website at vyapam.cgstate.gov.in.


• Candidates can download their admit card by logging in using their registration ID and date of birth. The link to download CG Vyapam SET admit card will be active only till September 6, 11:59 pm.


• The CG Vyapam SET 2019 will be conducted on September 8, 2019. The exam will be conducted in two shifts for paper 1 and 2. Paper 1 will be conducted from 10 am to 11 am. Paper 2 will be conducted from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm.
